There are several statistic programs available to bloggers. My favorites are the WordPress stats that are a plug-in or Google Analytics. The WP Stats are 2nd grade level easy. The Google Analytics program is a little more difficult because you need to go into the Header.php file and add the code for it. Either way, it’s important to take a look at who’s coming to your site, where they’re coming from, what pages they’re visiting, how long they stay, and where they click out to,
One important reason for tracking your stats is for you can keep track of your top referrers. These are people you want to make friends with - they are sending you traffic! It’s generally a good idea to be nice to those people - they aren’t sending you traffic by coincidence - they’ve linked you up. Link back! You can even add a “top referrers” list to your page - reciprocating some traffic.
Another reason why you should pay close attention to your stats is to keep an eye on your top posts. What is it about them that draws people to them? Is it a catchy title? Is it a particular topic that you could write more on? Double check your top posts to make sure that the links are all active and maybe even re-link things to direct traffic to another post or another page.
Paying attention to where your visitors are clicking out to is important, as well. If you are blogging cleverly, then you know that directing traffic is just as important as getting traffic. If your clicks are all going out to Wikipedia.org, you’re probably not being smart about your outclicks. I try to set my links strategically to either one of my other blogs, a revShare site, a friend’s blog, or a related post or category within my blog. The picture above, for example, is linked to the category, “Blogs”. And please, for the love of God, when you create a link out, give it a target=”_blank” attribute so that it opens in a new window - otherwise you’ve just lost your reader as they click on to the next page.
Taking note of your outclicks is also helpful if your blog is monetized. You can easily keep track of how many people you are sending to each site, giving you an idea of which affiliate programs are the best for your blog. For example, I can see in my statistics in Catalina Says that my most popular affiliate programs are The Collar Factory and VibeReview.com. That tells me that people like those sites and I should continue to promote those companies. If, for example, my stats showed just one click out/day to JoeJoe’sPornoBlog then I would probably drop JoeJoe’sPornoBlog from my links page or put his banner at the bottom of my banners page.
Finally, my last argument for being as OCD about stats as I am: Search Strings! In my stats I can see exactly what string people searched for when they found my blog. In today’s stats for example, someone found my blog by typing “slut wife loves to suck cock” into a search engine. Someone clicked to me because of that. On Catalina Loves, for example, the term “freckles“ is almost always at the top of my search terms list. At least 25 people per day find my blog through searching for Freckles in Google (or Yahoo or whatever). Knowing that, I try to include more freckles into my posts.

I made time for it by making it a blog post. That’s maybe lesson number one? I don’t know. Also notice that when I copied and pasted your email into this post, I linked to My own blogs so that our curious reader can see what other blogs we’re talking about. I also linked to the series posts so that the lucky soul who just found my blog for the first time today can go back and get caught up.
One of my blogging regrets so far is not linking better in the beginning. Some of the early posts were linked in a sort of moronic manner. I’ve since gone back through them (I think all of them) on Catalina Loves and re-linked and tagged them, but that was a bitch to do.
Another is that I didn’t always use tags. I only have a category cloud in my sidebar and so I figured using tags also was a waste of time. I was wrong. And just like re-linking, re-tagging was a tremendous pain-in-the-ass. Not only did I have to check the links in those posts, but really carefully read through each one looking for keywords (tags). Now, as a result, I write tags when I write the post and I do it every time I write a post. There are a number of people who skip from blog to blog via tag surfing. Those things matter! Do it.
I think my best advice to you looking forward is to think about your blog not now, but a year from now. Maybe it doesn’t need its own category now, but after a few months will you have to go back and re-tag it after you add the category? Ugh, that’s a pain. So try to get all your categories established early. Also consistent tagging is useful. Unfortunately, Wordpress doesn’t have a checkbox or dropdown box for tags, so you have to type them in. My reach around on this one is to go to Manage-Posts and then Copy-Paste the tags from a similar post. You can then delete the ones you don’t want to use easily (click the x) or add some if there are more that are needed. I do that for Sugasm, for example. I have a basic template like sex, sex blog, best sex blogs of the week, best posts of the week, BDSM, D/s, erotic fiction, hnt (etc. etc.) and then I can modify it easily after copying/pasting that string. (Always look for the easy way).
I hope this gives you somewhere to start. Find your tribe. A tight network of bloggers can help each other out a lot.

So far, you’ve learned how to set up your blog and how to monetize it, but how to get people to see it is a whole different issue. Clever linking and registering your blog in the right places are key. It’s easy to create a link in Wordpress, so making the link shouldn’t be a problem. There are writers that will say you shouldn’t create links like “Click Here To Read,” but as a reader, I disagree. Sometimes a simple “click here” is all you need. In general, however, try to make the actual link just a part of the text.
Balance is important when linking. You should have some internal links, some external links, and some revShare links (if you’ve monetized your blog). Don’t overlink by linking the word every time it appears. If you link the same word or phrase twice, it should lead to a different link for each one. Nobody wants to click the same link over and over again. As a general rule, link it the first time you reference it and then don’t link it again.
Internal Links: You want to make sure that you create internal links within your blog to keep people reading. When you reference another post, link it. If you mention something that you have a category for, link to the category. If you want people to know about you, in particular, link to your about page. The point is, look for links within your own blog.
External Links: It’s nice to link to your Myspace profile, people will want to make friends with you there. You can also link to other blog posts on other blogs or just to the main page of your favorite site. Usually people keep track of their incoming links and so it’s a good way to get other blogs to notice you and add you to their blogroll.
Blogroll Links: Start your blogroll with links to your favorite blogs. It’s that simple. Who do you like to read? If you want other people to read your blog, then read theirs. Leave meaningful comments. Not only will this increase your chances of having a link back to you in their blogroll, but their readers will read your comments and feel compelled to learn more about you. Leave comments on their blogs every day. They will take notice of you and if they like your blog, they will add you to their blogroll. You can just blatantly write an email and ask for a link exchange, but if your work is good, you don’t need to do that. Some bloggers are just outright offended if you email asking for a link exchange.
Blog Registries: Look at some of the top blog registries like Technorati, Del.icio.us, but stay away from Digg - not only will they ban you for adult content, but they will ban your IP. Also register with specific adult blog registries - Adult Blogster, Eye of Venus, Adult Blog Hub, and Cunning Linguist are four good ones to start with.
And last, but not least, join a bloggers network like Sugasm. Sugasm is a compendium of the week’s best blog posts. Each member of Sugasm submits their favorite post of the week, a complete list is emailed to everybody to vote on, and the results come out on Monday or Tuesday. Thousands of people look forward to Sugasm each week, knowing that they can count on reading the best erotica or seeing the best HNT posts.
So you read my blog yesterday about starting your own sex blog, you have found a template and a host, now it’s time to make some money to support your new blogging habit.
RevShare and Affiliate are two words you should know. You need to find sites that provide a revenue sharing program or an affiliate program and then sign up. Make sure they are sites you really support and back, because your name is going to be associated with them. There are millions of sites, so don’t sign up randomly just because you can. Pick and choose.
Each affiliate program is different and so you will want to read their terms very carefully. Some will give you a better share if you agree to exits, which means your viewers will get pop-ups. Think long and hard about whether or not this is worth it to you. I personally avoid them like the plague. Other options you might come across are payout related - will you go for clicks or sign-ups? Ultimately, you’ll just have to carefully look at the program and decide if it looks right to you. You can always bookmark it, compare it with other programs, and go back to it if it looks good. Research it well — there are stories of bloggers not getting paid by shady companies.
Joining affiliate programs has a hidden benefit for sex bloggers. Affiliate programs provide content for you. A good portion of the top quality photographs that I use on our blogs are a result of affiliate program content. I make a link back to them and I’m allowed to use their pictures (or movie clips). This is really neat if you want to find pictures that are difficult to find, like braces and food fetish mixed together (which, incidentally you can find on Breathplay.info).

Writing a good sex blog isn’t rocket science - I’m sure there are plenty of resources for people out there. I thought I’d share my experience with it here, though, and maybe offer a few tips you haven’t seen before. Like I was saying, writing your own sex blog is totally doable. You should sign up with either Blogger or Wordpress. My personal preference is Wordpress. We use it for all of our blogs. Wordpress is more user-friendly, in my opinion, and I have used both. I think there are also more widgets and themes available for Wordpress, but I could be wrong. And what’s a widget, you ask? Widgets are the options you can add to your blog, like calendars, top posts, statistics, tag clouds, etc. You probably want a theme that is widget friendly.
You’ll want to know what the column size is of your text because you may need to re-size images so that they don’t look squished in your blog. There are a lot of programs that can resize and entire folder of photos at once. For people like me, who have several blogs, this can be a real time saver. Catalina Loves and Breathplay both use 500 wide photos, for example, while The Momme Domme and Mr. and Mrs. Kink (dot com) are sized to 700 wide. So when I choose photos for Catalina Loves, I look for photos that are larger than 400 to begin with, because resizing them from say, 100 wide to 500 wide, will make them look terrible. It’s always better to size down than to size up - just make sure to keep the original aspect ratio, though.
You can host your site with Wordpress or Blogger (that means your site URL will look like yourblog.wordpress.com or yourname.blogger.com). Just because you can host your site with them doesn’t mean that you should. They have limitations on bandwidth, storage space, and usage. By purchasing your own domain, you have more autonomy over what you post (no censorship). You also can choose a URL like yourblog.com.

Step 1: Get comfortable
You should both be in comfortable relaxed clothing.

Trim of any bits of loose skin visible on the edges of the toenails using the cuticle trimmer. Do NOT cut the actual cuticles, despite the name of the tool.
Gently push back the cuticles using the cuticle pusher. You do this by sliding it across the back of the toenail against the cuticle. Some cuticle trimmers come with a cuticle pusher on the other end.
Step 4: Massage her feet
Prepare the massage oil by heating it in a small dish if you’d like. I recommend using KY Touch Warming Foot Massage, which you don’t need to heat up in advance. You can activate the heat through friction (obviously) and also by blowing gently on the KY Warming variety.

Move to the next foot when the pumice foot scrub starts to create too much traction. The scrub will have broken up the cuticle and massage oil as well.
Using a warm wet wash clothe clean off her feet gingerly. You will probably have to re-wet it with warm water two or three times to completely remove the foot scrub grains. Don’t forget in between her toes!
Use the pointed tip of the emeryl file to slowly and carefully remove any grit that has built up under the edges of her toenails. This is a delicate matter because the last thing you want is to slice into the skin under her nail.
If she still has some thick rough spots on the bottoms of her feet then use the pumice stone to smooth them out.
Apply the moisturizing cream to her feet to lock in moisture.
Step 6: Paint her toenails
Apply a base coat using the strengthening top & base coat solution to each toenail. Allow to dry.
Apply the first coat of nail polish in smooth strokes across the toenails, being careful not to get it on the skin, covering the whole nail. The smaller toes can usually be covered in one stroke. Don’t go back over the coat of polish even it has just been there a few seconds as multiple unnecessary strokes can make the polish gummy and uneven.
Allow the first coat to dry completely. Blowing on the toes will speed this up a bit. It should not be tacky feeling when you apply the next coat or the tackiness will catch the paint brush as it is applied, making the coat look poor. While waiting on the nail polish to dry you can lightly massage her feet some more to pass the time, but be careful not to touch the nail polish.
Apply the second coat of nail polish and allow to dry completely.
Optionally you may try your hand at nail art using a nail art brush on the toenail of the big toe. You can use a cotton pad to wipe the tiny tip to the nail art brush when you need to switch colors. There are also polish bottles available specifically for nail art that have the art brush built in. I personally find that a nail art brush allows for better control though.
After any nail art is completely dry you will apply the top coat using the strengthening top & base coat solution.
Very carefully remove any excess nail polish from the skin around her toenails using cue-tips or the pointed tip of the emeryl file. Optionally she may wait until the next morning and just allow any excess polish to come off in the shower.
Apply any nail art stickers or jewels after the top coat is dry if you decide to.
So there you have it! Hope it wasn’t too much to take in! If you have fun (and still have a willing participant) you should be able to do more/better on subsequent pedicures…..and who knows, that pedicure could take a more interesting turn for you both as it has for me before. Some ladies just love to put their well pampered feet to naughty uses. ;) Have fun!
