Every day I wake up and wonder what the day will bring because every day is weirder and weirder, or at least something very intense happens every day, either to me or to someone very close to me.  Maybe it’s this way for everyone and I just don’t realize it because I am narcissistic.

Yesterday I woke up and found out that BestSexBloggers.com had been picked up by Fleshbot and our numbers went through the roof on the third day.  Then I was asked to do a live call-in radio show in Spanish about BDSM and fetish.  The challenge is - I don’t normally talk about BDSM or fetish in Spanish.  They just aren’t conversations I’ve really ever struck up while traveling or living abroad.

Communicating eloquently and gracefully becomes much more of a challenge in your second language and I have more and more of an appreciation for it every time I am put outside of my boundaries like this.  Don’t get me wrong.  I have near native fluency and I consider myself completely bilingual, but your second language is just that - and there’s a reason why you choose your first language to express yourself best.  However, my Spanish is quite formal and academic, as my Master’s thesis was written about a 17th Century Spanish and Italian literature.  My travels have given me the skillz I need to communicate on a practical level, but like I said, the Kinktionary is a little different in Spanish than in English.  I’m so clueless that I don’t know what BDSM things mean in English when people bring them up until they explain the term and then I say, “Oh, thaaaaaaaaat.”

Nerves aside, it is a good opportunity for me professionally, for personal growth, and to legitimately practice speaking Spanish since I don’t get the opportunity often anymore.  Even as a high school teacher, I spoke a dumbed down version of Spanish.  This is a challenge and I love a challenge.

I’ll leave the station and visit my Cookie Friend for a while and then make my way to M’s for my Friday Night in Uptown tradition.  We may just stay in, or we may go out.  We’ll see.  Either way, it will be nice to get away for a few hours.  M and I cross paths, but our paths don’t cross.  We live in different worlds.  We don’t have any mutual friends, there is just M and Me.  It makes for a very close friendship that makes it safe to say or be whatever you want to, without fear that anyone else would ever know.  It’s a tradition I will miss greatly while he’s away exploring faraway lands with faraway women for two weeks.

And now I’m off to get beautiful.

Not even RR with his bullshit tactics today can ruin my day.  It’s Friday.  I should enjoy it.

Viva la Vida by Coldplay

All the best things I could find for you in one week, and some things I have forgotten to include for a while now.  I’m a little late this weekend, because I spent a little too much time socializing.  However, in my own defense, against myself, I would say that I have worked 18 hour days 7 days a week for …  what seems like an eternity.  Okay, enough self-rationalization.  I’m late, but no rabbit had to die.  Here is this week’s Good Things List - hopefully it’s a better version than Martha’s.

A Good (Strap On) Dildo

Graydancer’s “The Ropecast” is the new home of the premiere rope bondage podcast.  This podcast talks about kinky sex, consensual adult bondage, and discusses dominance, submission, sado-masochism, and the iniquieties of the square knot in a frank, open, and entertaining way.  (I didn’t write that, by the way, but it is all true and well-written, so why re-invent the wheel?  I copied and pasted from The Ropecast site).

A Good Book

It’s going to become very obvious to you soon, so I’ll just ‘fess up now - I am definitely kissing Graydancer’s ass this week.  Why?  Because I’ve admired him for so long and I practically begged him to be a part of bestsexbloggers.com.  I told him that I would, in fact, kiss his ass, if he would join.  He joined, so here is Graydancer’s book, Nawashi - A Novel of Erotic Magic.  Take a lookee and buy a coppee.

A Good Educational Opportunity

Did you know that you can take free courses online from MIT (yes, that’s the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT).  Well, kind of.  Read carefully, but essentially they make their course materials available online and though you don’t get credit for it, you can learn for the sake of learning.  Now here’s the cool thing, to me, anyway.  I thought that MIT only offered courses in science and math.  I was wrong.  Here is the course description of the course I’m currently taking:

Este semestre la materia combina obras ya canonizadas de finales del siglo XIX y del XX con algunas obras de reciente aparición. De los géneros literarios, vemos poesía, el cuento corto, la novela y la autobiografía. También vemos una película de tema ficticio y dos documentales. El estudiante que se interese por hacerlo puede usar los materiales en la Reserva y en la red para familiarizarse con la historia literaria y cinematográfica de este período. Nuestro enfoque principal, sin embargo, será leer bien y de modo analítico, textos literarios de diferentes momentos históricos y culturas nacionales (e internacionales). Aunque discutiremos analíticamente las tres películas, su interés principal para nosotros será, en un caso, conocer el argumento ideológico de una novela muy famosa e influyente que, por falta de tiempo, no vamos a poder leer en sus totalidad, y en los dos otros casos, para contextualizar una autobiografía y tener un punto de comparación para estudiar cómo se puede reconstruir la memoria simultáneamente individual y colectiva. Otros temas, que se estudiarán en varias obras, serán el bilingüismo (español/inglés) en ciertos escritores hispanoamericanos contemporáneos, y el auge de la novela best seller en la América Hispana.

So, in case you can’t tell, that’s an advanced Spanish literature course.  Who knew I could brush up on my primary field of study with free online courses from MIT?!  I just found out recently, but I’m on it!  The Catalina Downer Disclaimer:  You might have to buy books and don’t forget that books are not free.  Ever.  So, though the courses are free, you can’t necessarily say that you can take any class you want for free.  Sorry.  But this is about as close as you can get!

A Good Corset (and lingerie)

Mio Destino is located in Europe, but delivers worldwide and has a domestic office.  Their corsets are undeniably quality.  You’re not buying an ebay corset, this is the one you’ve been saving up for.  They aren’t so horribly expensive that you can’t afford it unless you’re married to a very wealthy international finance attorney, however, they’re not cheap either.  The selection is unbelievable - corsets by designer, shape, by fabric, corsets to wear out, bridal corsets, underbust corsets, and corset skirts.  They are the way to go if you’re in the market for that special one.

A (PERFECT) Album

Viva la Vida by Coldplay is amazing.  Brian Eno produced it, so when I first heard it, I rejected it stating simply, “I’m not interested in listening to another U2 album.” What a bitch!  Now, I come back with my official opinion - “This is the best Coldplay album yet.” You must listen to it through headphones.  That’s my only caveat.  It sounds good over speakers, and it sounds great in the car, but there is something special about listening to it in the headphones, like being able to hear Chris quietly count off.  Also, I own the official album and then I also have the special Marky D. Sade found this two weeks before it was released version.  The difference is that I have two extra tracks - Lost (acoustic) and Lovers in Japan (acoustic).  The trick is that you have to listen to the album, looped, without the two extra tracks.  Let song 10 fade into song 1.  I won’t give it away here, but just do it.  It’s neato.  I think my favorite song right now is Strawberry Swing.  It’s a great way to start the day - Chris Martin telling you it’s such a perfect day.

Entré la casa y me senté.  No fue la primera vez que fui a su apartamento.  La otra noche fui para visitar un ratito.  Me emborraché un poquito y fue en este momento que me puse a pensar - como hay catorce años entre nosotros me imagino que nunca ha sentido la boca de una mujer de mi edad, la experiencia con que chupo, el gusto que tengo para hacerlo.  No es la primera vez que pienso en él así, pero sí fue la primera vez que…  que pensé en algunas de las cosas que quisiera hacerlo.

No es que quiero hacernos amantes.  No lo quiero para nada.  Pero quisiera tener esta oportunidad:

Moverme hacía él, tocarle un poquito diciendo algo dulce e inesperable, y quitarle los pantalones sin decir nada y empezar a chuparlo.  ¿Cómo va a reaccionar?  ¿Me va a parar?  Lo dudo.   Quisiera saber.  Siempre quiero ser la mejor y en este caso creo que la sería.

Después de terminar y tragar, le diría que gracias, pero tengo que irme, y me despido sin más que un besito - su sabor todavía en mis labios y un gran secreto en mi mente.   Otro día hablaríamos, sin mencionarlo, pero con un secreto especial entre nosotros, que solamente nosotros sabremos.

Hoy estoy escribiendo en español porque ha pasado meses sin hablar ni escribir en español.  Es la única parte de mi último trabajo que me gustaba - la oportunidad de comunicarme en español.  Por lo menos podía practicar la gramática con los estudiantes de AP Spanish, no podia hablar sobre las cosas que quisiera - como la política, el amor, y claro - las relaciones.  Hablaba a veces con las otras profesoras en español, pero la verdad es que una de ellas no sabe bien la gramática.  Un ejemplo - cuando habla, nunca usa el subjuntivo.  Creo que no sabe usarlo.  Tampoco no podía hablar con ellas sobre las cosas que me interesan.  Blurg!  Me gustaría encontrar a un amigo o una amiga que habla español, entonces podríamos escribir emails y charlar en español.

Todavía me duele muchísimo el hombro izquierdo.  Acabo de hablar con la enfermera de la clínica.  Me dijo que la doctora me va a llamar ahorrita.  Necesito obtener una medicina diferente - ahora estoy tomando Flexeril para relajarme el músculo, pero no me toca.  No me toca para nada.  De hecho, tomé Dos pastillas a la vez, y no me hizo nada.   … sonó el teléfono y habló la doctora … me van a recetar Valium.  ¡Genial!

Otras cosas - mi amiga January Seraph, me mandó un email hoy - ella viaja este fin y dejó a su novio en Los Angeles - entonces sacó un anuncio en Craigslist para encontrar otra mujer para él.

Tenemos un cliente nuevo - Whipped-Pussy.com - y estamos muy emocionados para empezar con ellos.  Nuestro negocio está desarrollando bien.

W está muy triste todavía.  Me llamó anoche y dijo que siente que es huésped en un hotel pero los empleados no son amables.

En este momento escucho Viva la Vida de Coldplay.  Anoche vi un documental sobre Coldplay y aprendí que todos los imagenes, el arte, del disco, son hechos por los miembros de Coldplay.  Pensaba que el título del disco fue inspirado por Frida Kahlo - en el documental Chris Martin dice que tengo razón.  :)  Me encanta la canción Lovers in Japan (Amantes en Japón).  Es increíble.  Yo tengo un disco especial - con extras - una versión de Lost (Acústica) y una versión de Lovers in Japan (Acústica).  Estás dos son mis favoritas.

Bueno - no puedo pensar en más noticias ahora - he tomado el Valium y ahora no puedo hacer nada. lol.  Dudo que alguien lea porque está escrito en español.  Voy a pensar en un tema ineresante para escribir más en español.  …a lo mejor encontraré algo como TMI Tuesday en español.
