Meet Me In New York City!!

Sex Work Awareness is an organization that trains sex workers in media skills and educates the public about issues that affect people who work in the sex industry. 12 of NYC’s finest writers, sex educators, film makers, and ordinary women are determined to see the stigma associated with sex work and workers removed.

Included in the calendar are Audacia Ray, Desiree, Diva, Elizabeth Wood, Jamye Waxman, Luz Alptraum, Mariella Ella, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Riese, Sinclair Sexsmith, Tess Danesi, and Twanna A. Hines. Life is moving at the speed of sound.  Yesterday I spent a good portion of my day and evening working on a press release for the In The Flesh Reading Series Oral Sex Night and today I started on press releases for the NYC Sex Blogger 2009 Limited Edition Calendar Launch Party and Dacia’s Love Machine’s World Premiere at the Berlin Porn Film Festival. My favorite moment of the day happened when discussing the press release with Dacia, who owes me a quote for the final draft.  I have to share the moment - it went something like this:

• Me: “Don’t worry, I can always get a quote from you from Berlin.”
• Dacia: “the only problem with that is that is it might be a little tricky with me being all whooping it up in Berlin.”
• Me: “iPhone, baby!”
• Dacia: “what I’m trying to say is that I may be too drunk/knee deep in french lesbians”

I was planning my trip to New York for the calendar launch party (November 14th, Meet Me There!!) and it kind of looks like this:  Stay Thursday night with Tess, Friday night with Tess and Diva at the hotel, Saturday night at Dacia’s, and then have a leisurely breakfast before heading back home on Sunday.  You should seriously pre-order your calendar if you are planning to buy one.  They are limited and they are going to sell out, so if you’re planning to buy it, don’t let the grass grow under your feet (::hint hint::).

I was also planning my trip to see The Butterfly Temptress today.  I was thinking that I would maybe take the Greyhound for the first time ever, like see it as an adventure and an opportunity to blog about something weird and new to me, Say Yes To It!  I was all psyched, thinking it would cost like $50.00 to get to where I’m going, maybe $100.  It was more than an airline ticket.  What?!  Holy Crap.  Why do people take the Greyhound then?  That is so baffling.  So I looked up Amtrak, because I thought - train = adventure = Yes!  No.  Amtrak was almost twice that of an airline ticket.  So why would anybody spend 18 hours on a train at twice the expense of a two hour flight?  I don’t get it.  For real.  How do they stay in business?  I’m so flexible with the dates that I can go to visit her that I think I will ultimately put in a $99.00 bid on Priceline and try to get a cheap ticket.  Who knew?  I’m shocked.

Changing topics (drastically): Madison Young is so unbelievable!  If you are going to be in Minneapolis this weekend, you have to check out her reading at Smitten Kitten.  I still have a movie of hers to review on CatalinaLoves.com and an interview to do with her!  Don’t think I’ve forgotten, but in fact just really behind on my own content to do work for other people.  As a good friend once taught me, “My work suffers so yours doesn’t.”  Anyway, we were talking today about her press release and she said that she would send me an autographed copy of her limited addition Madison Young’s Erotic Breast Self Exam Posters.  I can’t wait.  I’ll frame it and hang it in my office/bedroom!  At some point, I’ll have quite the erotic art collection.  I think I have a good start!  You can get your own, this is the good thing about reading my blog - see, I give you the inside scoop on where to go.  Go to the Femina Potens Art Gallery and look at Store -> Art From Exhibits -> Present and then you can scroll down and see what I’m talking about and buy one for yourself!

Well, it’s 11:15 and for the first time today, even though we are both at home working, I’m going to spend some time with Marky.  Buy a calendar, check out Madison’s appearance in Minneapolis and the Femina Potens Art Gallery, plan to meet me at the launch party on November 14th in NYC, and download Dacia’s Love Machine and watch it.  You’ve got a lot on your to-do list now :-)

Life is going by so quickly - how did it get to be the middle of October already?  I haven’t had much time to do anything but work, which is a good thing!  No complaints from me on that one.  I am juggling a lot of projects, but project management is something I am very good at.  Today I spent part of my day contacting professional dommes - you see I have this theory based on experience as a professional dominatrix - that finding good advertising is really difficult.  Sure, you can pay some directory to list you with 50 other ladies offering the same thing you are or you can throw an ad up on Craigslist and hope for the least sleazy responses possible, or even just throw up a web page and hope someone finds you - or you could place an ad on Fetlife, target it towards men in your area, and BAM!  You have a self-selected demographic of men interested in BDSM at your feet.  So my goal has been to contact other professional dominatrices, dominas, dommes, ladies, and Goddesses and try to put the word out to them.  There are sure a hell of a lot of us!  It’s keeping me very busy.

Aside from that I’ve been working on Rachel Kramer Bussel’s press release for her Oral Sex Night at In The Flesh Erotic Reading Series in NYC - writing and formatting it was easy - sending it to hundreds of contacts individually one by one with an attachment takes time.  PR hint: Don’t send out press releases as a batch or group - it will hit spam filters and then you’ve just wasted a good contact.  If they are worth contacting, contact them individually.  So I spent several hours working on that project.

Soon I’m going to start posting the Butterfly Temptress’ series on BestSexBloggers.com.  I’ve alluded to it before it, directed people to it where it was originally posted (on EF’s blog) but EdenFantasys has really let a bunch of us down lately and it seems they have turned their back on her project, along with several other important projects.  It’s a shame, they have really lost the respect of the blogger community after rescinding their offer to sponsor the printing of the NYC Sex Blogger Calendar project and then refusing to pay AAG for the hours she put in for them before they terminated her.  I would be very careful in entering into any agreement with EdenFantasys.  It is one affiliate program I would not recommend.  If you’re looking for a good toy company, go with VibeReview.com.

I’m off now - I’m looking for a cheap ticket to visit Butterfly Temptress for a slumber party before going to NYC for the calendar launch party (did I mention I’m excited about going to NYC?!?!).  Diva suggested looking at train prices, so I’m going to wrap it up and find a cheap way to get where I need to go.

My afternoon was spent going through email and then uploading some new pictures that I just got back from Altered Aperture to my Model Mayhem profile.  I’m allowed 20 pics, so I might as well use them!  There is a little bit of everything there now.  I’ve actually heard from several photographers, which I found to be very odd, but it’s a big world and I suppose there’s room in it for a “mature” model.  It is weird to be small enough for a photographer to put me in a size six wedding dress and take shots for his portfolio.  Why not, though?  I never have worn a wedding dress, I kind of want the wedding I never had pictures!  Oh, it’s not that we didn’t have pictures, but we wore our pajamas and got married in our living room by our hippie friend who was an ordained minister in some hippie church.  They are all black and white and I wish I had them in digital so I could post some.  (No, I don’t have a scanner.)

Rope Share Fundraiser

The Rope Share is a bondage workshop that is structured to fit your skill levels and interests. There are three highly skilled, bondage instructors and a teaching assistant. The attendance will be limited to 12 students and divided into three groups so you will get individual attention and tutoring.

If you are a beginner, an instructor will teach you the basics of safety, negotiations, and the elemental ties needed to start your bondage exploration. If you are an intermediate player and are interested in advancing your rope skills, are curious about how to tie a certain harness or position, or want to learn more about body positions and how certain ties affect your bottom’s headspace, this is a perfect environment to ask those questions. If you are an advanced player and want to see how other rope tops tie, how different styles can enhance your own, this is a safe, non-ego space to hang out and play.

Couples are encouraged to attend together, but singles are also welcome as this will be held in a lab environment. Please be open to dance both parts for the sake of the education.

Bring Rope: 4 lengths of 25 ft. rope; 2 lengths of 50 ft.; and safety scissors. Cotton, nylon, hemp, and jute are all fine.

ALL proceeds will be donated to benefit our dear friend and rope bondage enthusiast, Vanessa, as she fights the battle of Lymphoma B cancer. We plan to continue this workshop as a monthly event for as long as it is necessary. Future workshops will include Men-only and Women-only attendance so please inquire about those dates if that is a concern.
